An epilogue describes the history of the efforts of the authors, a novel about positive youth Mexicans, their failed attempts, the publication (with the exception of a shortened version of Jack and Jill in 1956) to write, and the discovery of the current editor of the manuscript. Readers who go through the introductory chapters find something awkward that the adventures of Miguel move blithely self-contained episodes in the third person with just enough detail to make clear the setting. Each chapter includes an illustration of careful research.
